International: Court throws Egypt's transition into disarray

Egypt's Supreme Constitutional Court has dissolved its recently elected parliament, calling it invalid, and ruled that the ousted president Hosni Mubarak's former prime minister can stand as president.

This means the presidential run-off between Ahmed Shafik and the Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohammed Morsi will go ahead this weekend.

The Brotherhood said the dissolution of parliament will send Egypt into a "dark tunnel".

Al Jazeera's Sherine Tadros reports from Cairo.
